We went to a religious playing this weekend. Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection is a musical drama presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Act I told the story before the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the World. Act I ended with the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bakersfield Stake was in charge, therefore many of the performers we did not know. We did know two of singers though. Joseph, Mary's fiancée/husband, who was played by Jacob Krumm. Joe would have been happy to see Jacob! He did a wonderful job! Joseph's father, Micham, was played by Randy de Jong. He was my Spanish teacher and lived in our ward for many years. Jacob and Señor de Jong sang a duet together. It was beautiful! The person that played Mary, the mother Christ, was excellent! Song lyrics were taken from the King James version of the New Testament. After a 15 minutes, Act II began 33 years later, where a resurrected Christ appeared to His apostles and then to the Nephites on the American continent as recorded in The Book of Mormon. The play has profound meaning and was thoroughly enjoyed by the Kent family. All the talents and equipment involved provided a spiritual atmosphere. It made me want to be a better person!
