David, David, David…

davidarch My mom, Mary O, Nicole, and I went to a concert the weekend after Thanksgiving. We saw David Archuleta, the second place winner on American Idol in ‘08, at the convention center in Bakersfield. It was a pop/holiday concert. I was excited to see my first holiday concert! First off he sang "Crush" and some other bubble gum songs. As well as his own songs, he sang "Fields of Gold” and a popular song (of course, I don't know it) with the piano. The holiday portion of the concert was awesome! I loved hearing him sing "What Child Is This." He has such control of his voice! Don't believe a word Nicole says, he sang "O Holy Night" beautifully! I could have done without hearing him sing holiday songs in foreign languages. Those songs were beautiful, but boring! You are in America, so sing in English!! His public speaking skills have improved since American Idol, but could have been better. Concert: "A"

Public Speaking Skills: “C“ http://idol.blogs.pressdemocrat.com/10603/archuletas-mission/

Fangover

taylor-lautnerOn Friday November 20th, nine self-diagnosed Twi-hards drove to Bakersfield for the 10 a.m. showing of New Moon. I do not belong to Team Jacob, but just as a fellow Twi-hard said while pointing to Taylor Lautner "I'll take one of those!" After seeing that film, I understand why people side with Jacob. However, I still believe Bella belongs with Edward aka Mr. Darcy. As far as competitions go, Edward would beat Jacob, in a fight and Robert Pattinson crushes Taylor Lautner in the acting department! Did I mention those abs?!

The Randies Wed

I went to a friend's wedding this past weekend. Hands down, it was the cutest wedding ceremony I have ever seen! I loved IMG_6182 her simple, yet elegant wedding dress! True to her hilarious nature, she wore dark blue shoes with sequin for her "something blue" item. The cake was made by the maid-of-honor and was the cutest thing ever. The only thing that would have made the day more enjoyable was if Joaquin Phoenix was able to join me.

(By the way, I wore this costume to the movie theater. I only received a few stares!-- Oh, and I was not that busty!)

Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection

We went to a religious playing this weekend. Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection is a musical drama presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Act I told the story before the birth of Jesus Cchristhrist, the Savior and Redeemer of the World. Act I ended with the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bakersfield Stake was in charge, therefore many of the performers we did not know. We did know two of singers though. Joseph, Mary's fiancée/husband, who was played by Jacob Krumm. Joe would have been happy to see Jacob! He did a wonderful job! Joseph's father, Micham, was played by Randy de Jong. He was my Spanish teacher and lived in our ward for many years. Jacob and Señor de Jong sang a duet together. It was beautiful! The person that played Mary, the mother Christ, was excellent! Song lyrics were taken from the King James version of the New Testament. After a 15 minutes, Act II began 33 years later, where a resurrected Christ appeared to His apostles and then to the Nephites on the American continent as recorded in The Book of Mormon. The play has profound meaning and was thoroughly enjoyed by the Kent family. All the talents and equipment involved provided a spiritual atmosphere. It made me want to be a better person!

Anticipation

I am very excited for the theatrical release of New Moon on November 20th! I bought a special outfit to wear to the theater that day. Many are aware that I suffer from a disorder called “O.C.D.” (Obsessive Cullen Disorder).

Right now I am suffering from “O.T.D.” (Obsessive Taylor Disorder). Taylor Lautner is the actor who plays Jacob. (Wahoo, for not making him wear that wig!) I may have to switch to Team Jacob, but ONLY for the movie! In reality, Edward always wins! Last year a large group of friends went out to lunch and saw Twilight afterwards. We had a great time!  However, this year our ward dinner is on that Friday. I already have set plans for Saturday, the 21st. We’ll see what happens…

The Bumble Bee Stung Annie

bee

This year I dressed up aelleannies a bumble bee for our Trunk-or-Treat Halloween celebration at church. My favorite niece and nephew were in attendance. Elle was Annie (in a mini skirt)  and Kent was an elephant. Krissy (a maid) and Dylan (Daddy Warbucks) were also dressed as characters from Annie. Remember that elephant in Annie, well that was Kent. When Elle went to Disneyland this elephant summer, she was stung by a bumble bee. Unfortunately, she still remembers and brings it up all of the time! Not many children were there, which meant more candy for me!

“What where you doing last night, out at the woodpile?”

Seven_brides_seven_brothers The Kent girls saw one of the funniest musicals a few weeks ago! Although this quote was not uttered, many funny lines and moments were shared at the Bakersfield production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. There were a few new songs, and a few songs were neglected. Millie had a beautiful voice! Adam started out a little shaky, but eventually I became an enthusiastic fan. The lead character proudly informed the audience he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in the playbill so it was particularly funny when he made a reference to Mormons while performing “Sobbin’ Women.” Frank was absolutely hilarious! He seemed confident with himself, and that allowed the audience to laugh with him. Some of his best lines were “Meow, meow, meow!!”
